FUKUI was born from a fascination with two worlds: the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi — beauty in imperfection and simplicity — and the Scandinavian belief that home should be a place of calm. We combined these ideas with Polish craftsmanship and a deep love for natural wood.

“Hi, I'm Michał — founder of FUKUI. Furniture has always meant more to me than just objects. It's the space where we live, rest, and create memories.
I built FUKUI because I wanted to offer something I was searching for myself: furniture beautiful in its simplicity, made honestly and built to last. Thank you for being part of this story.”
FUKUI is a small team, and it works like one. Michał designs the pieces, chooses the boards and still checks every cabinet before it is packed. Questions about a wall type or a custom width don't go to a ticket queue — they go to the person who made the drawing.

Made by hand in Poland
A small team of craftspeople with decades of woodworking behind them. No assembly line — hands, tools and time. Every piece passes through the same hands from raw timber to the courier.
From raw timber to your door
Oak is no coincidence. It's one of the hardest and most noble European woods — resistant to moisture, impact, and the passage of time. Its natural grain means every piece is truly one of a kind. Every FUKUI piece passes through the hands of craftspeople who care about every detail: from precise cutting, through sanding, to finishing with acrylic lacquer. No shortcuts. No compromises.
Selecting the oak
FSC® oak from Polish forests. Boards chosen for grain and stability — the knots stay where they add character.
Cutting & planing
18 mm panels cut to ±2 mm. Every edge planed by hand before it goes anywhere near a joint.
Joinery
Mitred corners on the carcasses, through-tenons on the benches. Glue, clamps, patience.
Sanding
Three grits, always with the grain. This is where the surface you touch every day is decided.
Acrylic lacquer
Matte acrylic lacquer, two coats. Protects against water rings and hot mugs without hiding the grain.
Packing & shipping
Assembled, wrapped in foam and corrugated board, insured. 2–3 days from raw timber to the courier.

The FUKUI symbol is a geometric well — four intersecting lines forming an open square. The form draws directly from the meaning of the name: the Japanese Fukui (福井) means “fortunate well,” and the character 井 — meaning well — has for centuries been written as exactly this grid of crossing lines. The logo doesn't illustrate the name; it reproduces its very source.
The well is one of the oldest symbols of community: a point around which people gather, a source they return to, a place where the everyday meets something deeper. The open, lattice-like structure of the mark expresses that accessibility — nothing here is closed off or hidden. It is a structure made for drawing from and sharing.
